ACORD INC., a Connecticut, private, non-profit agency serving adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, was founded in 1985 by academic and human service professionals in collaboration with families and friends of persons facing these challenges in the Greater Wallingford area.   It is qualified as a provider by the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS);  incorporated in the State of CT; and is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors, paid executive director and staff. ACORD’s services were initially developed as supported employment and community experience opportunities. In 1995, ACORD added individual and group residential supports to its service matrix. ACORD’s original purpose and continued commitment is to collaborate with the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS) along with other state and local government agencies to provide person-centered, cost effective services and supports to individuals.
